There is a double entendre in my son's t-shirt. Besides the fact that it's super cute and his favortie shirt because it's so comfy, there is some truth to the "Runts Rule!" Eventhough he doesn't know what "runt" means, and he didn't even know that Runts were a candy until we tried them on his birthday. And yes, he loved them! But he is my small guy. At a recent doctor's check up he was below the 25% in height and slightly below his growth curve and he hadn't gained any weight since last year. But that isn't stopping my mighty Mo. He has the personality and gorgeous blue eyes to make people smile and love him without even trying!
He is named Moses David--two of the most influential and prominent characters in the Bible, described as speaking face to face with God, as a man speaks with his friend, and as having a heart after God's own heart. These are two things that I pray for my mighty Mo. David is also after his Uncle David. But recently I was reading through the book of I Samuel and the story of David and Goliath struck me as so appropriate to my Moses' life. David was the small guy in his family. When Samuel came to annoint the new king David was overlooked at first, until God reminded Samuel that He doesn't look at the things man looks at--He doesn't look at outward apperance, but at the heart. And David's heart was for God. When David visited his brothers at the war camp he was horrified to hear Goliath blaspheming their God. Why was noone doing anything about this? And so brave David said he would fight the giant that all these warriors were afraid of. David knew the battle is the Lord's and he trusted in God's strength. When King Saul tried to put his own armor on David, it didn't fit. David said, "No thanks. I'll just take my little sling and some stones. God will do the rest." And with God's help little David slew the fierce giant.
That's my Moses David. . . a little guy who can do BIG things with God. I will continue to pray that as he grows he would not judge people--himself or others-- by their outward appearance, but that he would look into their heart. And I pray that his heart would always be after God's.
Despite his small stature, Moses is a very talented kid! He has incredible running form, skill with almost any ball he picks up, and awesome rhythm on the drums. He has a sweet, friendly, energetic and yet laid back personality. And he has a heart after God's . . .
