Danny's Birthday

On the morning of Danny's birthday his wish was to wake up early. He would have woken up at 6:30 if I had not talked him into waiting until 7:00. Josiah was already awake and waiting and as soon as Danny woke Hannah up and she realized what was going on she was excited and ready! Her first act was to give Danny a present, and not just any present, but a beloved belonging, a treasure of her own. She gave Danny a piece of pyrite she had received as a gift from her teacher. She is our little gift-giver and she gives out of pure, sacrificial love. Then we shared in communion, a time of meditative/listening to God silence, journaling prayer. . . basically Danny's morning routine. Then the little boys woke up and we all went for a family bike ride. And that pretty much sums up who my husband is. His first love is Jesus. His second is his family. Another love is exercise/physical activity and his newest love is biking. And he wanted to share them all together. This is the man I married. This is the man I love.

Another of his loves is people. As I have mentioned before he is an Extrovert! So his other birthday wish was to have a party where people came to play games. We invited some of the guys he regularly prays with and their families. And of course his brother and Jonah and Judah came (Christina was out of town). It was kind of crazy with all the Old Testament named kids ;).
But we had fun sharing a Swiss Cake Roll Cake.
Danny "organized" a race for the kids, and then the guys got in on it. Thanks to David for rescuing the little boys! And Jake won!
Then we managed a couple of intriguing games of Mafia (where I was, as always, the narrator).
And then we got in two very quick games of Commando Balls. Two rookies were the killers. Josiah won the first game. It came down to Hannah and Lezlie in the last game. Lezlie prevailed, but we were proud of our brave Hannah.
Then after we found places for all the kids to lay down, we played a few games of Catan.
So Danny's birthday was full of the things he likes. And I like him!
